Researches

RUS ENG

What is the starting point for any public activity? Identification of the problem and its reasons, possible consequences etc. In YHRM campaigning this phase – research phase – is recognized as a very important and necessary one. To work out a good strategy of public action you need to explore a lot.
So, any YHRM action or campaign starts with a research. The objectives of the research can be:

  1. deep research of the problem: reasons, opportunities to avoid a problem next time, ways to solve the problem etc;
  2. research of the target group: who shall we work with? What methods shall we choose?
  3. aims: what aims shall we put on the tactical and strategic level? What are realistic?
  4. experience: whether anybody had touched this problem already? Is it possible to use that experience?
  5. modeling possible consequences and side effects: it is always important to foresee the results of your action.

Also among objectives there can be awareness and involvement of new activists into public activities.
Very often research also finishes the YHRM campaign to analyze the effect of the activities.

Also within YHRM work we provide independent researches, which are not connected with any action or campaign – when we need to verify that a new public problem takes place and probably actions needed.

YHRM researches can be divided into:

  1. mini-researches: a problem is broken into pieces, and only particular elements are researched;
  2. complex researches: the problem is explored as a whole, or a number of problems as a complex;
  3. monitoring: systematical and regular observation of some spectrum of public life, e.g. rights violations of a particular target group.

Methods used:

  1. questionnaires;
  2. interview;
  3. content-analysis;
  4. focus-group;
  5. visit;
  6. secret client
  7. etc.

Research can be based at local, interregional and international levels – depends on a scale of a problem and possibilities to solve it.
